Fairy Tea Party

Every year the Provo Library has a Fairy Tea party as a fundraiser. This year Mila got to go with her friends and she was very excited about it. I arrived late(because I was taking the MPRE) so I missed the fairy processional, but she had fun. There was a ballet performance and fairy snack(cheese, muffin, strawberry and a cookie). I know she is dressed like a princess, but this was the best I could do with moving and everything. A lot of people were really decked out...moms too.

Olive, Mila, Emma, and Abby with the fairy King and some fairies.

My little Belle...she loved the wand and the necklace she got too. I am sure we will be back next year!

Mila the Fashonista(sort of)

Mila has always had an opinion about what she wanted to wear, but only recently has that opinion become almost immovable. I have tried everything, but if I want the morning to go smoothly it is easier to just let her pick out her clothes. So we have worked out a compromise--if she gets dressed completely by herself then she can pick out her clothes. I have veto power, but will only use it(usually) if she isn't dressed warm enough. So she has embraced layers, and she only wants to wear skirts or dresses. I am trying to implement "pant days" but sometimes it isn't worth the trouble. Needless to say she has gone to school in some interesting ensembles. Here are a few of them:
Not too bad, but the heart patterned long sleeve shirt is an interesting choice.

This one cracks me up. She likes to be multi-colored.

Here she is pretending to be asleep. Also in a variety of colors. Pink shirt, purple skirt, black leggings with red, green, blue, and white dots on them.

My little ray of sunshine. Oh yeah on this morning it had snowed about 4 inches. She has layers on and I asked her what she was going to do when she played outside at preschool. She responded by telling me she would stuff her skirt into her snow pants.

She had to match her Dr. Seuss book she was bringing to school(and her banana).

I love my little girl. I have no idea where this love of skirts and dresses comes from but I am trying to accept it. :-) I realized that if I don't want her to put so much emphasis on clothes that I need to stop making a big deal out of what she is wearing. We will see how that goes.
