Fairy Tea Party

Every year the Provo Library has a Fairy Tea party as a fundraiser. This year Mila got to go with her friends and she was very excited about it. I arrived late(because I was taking the MPRE) so I missed the fairy processional, but she had fun. There was a ballet performance and fairy snack(cheese, muffin, strawberry and a cookie). I know she is dressed like a princess, but this was the best I could do with moving and everything. A lot of people were really decked out...moms too.

Olive, Mila, Emma, and Abby with the fairy King and some fairies.

My little Belle...she loved the wand and the necklace she got too. I am sure we will be back next year!

Mila the Fashonista(sort of)

Mila has always had an opinion about what she wanted to wear, but only recently has that opinion become almost immovable. I have tried everything, but if I want the morning to go smoothly it is easier to just let her pick out her clothes. So we have worked out a compromise--if she gets dressed completely by herself then she can pick out her clothes. I have veto power, but will only use it(usually) if she isn't dressed warm enough. So she has embraced layers, and she only wants to wear skirts or dresses. I am trying to implement "pant days" but sometimes it isn't worth the trouble. Needless to say she has gone to school in some interesting ensembles. Here are a few of them:
Not too bad, but the heart patterned long sleeve shirt is an interesting choice.

This one cracks me up. She likes to be multi-colored.

Here she is pretending to be asleep. Also in a variety of colors. Pink shirt, purple skirt, black leggings with red, green, blue, and white dots on them.

My little ray of sunshine. Oh yeah on this morning it had snowed about 4 inches. She has layers on and I asked her what she was going to do when she played outside at preschool. She responded by telling me she would stuff her skirt into her snow pants.

She had to match her Dr. Seuss book she was bringing to school(and her banana).

I love my little girl. I have no idea where this love of skirts and dresses comes from but I am trying to accept it. :-) I realized that if I don't want her to put so much emphasis on clothes that I need to stop making a big deal out of what she is wearing. We will see how that goes.

Ice Castles at Zermatt Resort

I know I skipped Christmas, but I am probably not even going to try to catch up. Between Finals and Christmas I got a little behind. But I will try to post some in the future. On Saturday, January 30th, Mila and I went to Zermatt Resort near Midway to look at these huge ice creations/castles/ sculptures. It was really cold, but it was fun to walk around and look at these amazing creations. Thanks to my friend Tashina for thinking up the idea and getting us to do something interesting for once. We also had hot chocolate and pastries at a bakery at the resort and got to talk to the artist a little bit. Mila loved looking at everything.

Amazed face!
All bundled up.

Me and Mila--cold but happy.

Halloween!

For Halloween we went to the Burns' house for spooky food and yummy mummy potion. Then we went trick or treating around the neighborhood. Mila had so much fun.

A Pumpkin Poem

Mila learned this adorable poem at preschool. She forgot a few of the lines on this take, but it was so cute I had to post it. Have I mentioned I love this kid?

More Halloween fun!

Yes, Mila has two costumes. For Preschool Mila was a leopard. She was very excited for the whiskers on her face. After Preschool we went ice skating again, and then we carved pumpkins, drank hot chocolate and watched Monster vs. Aliens(a halloween special--not the movie). It was a good day. Mila kept asking me if we were going to "shave the pumpkins." And she was so excited to go get me a butter knife to shave the pumpkin. It was a perfect fall/pre-halloween day.

Her little pumpkin...she drew what she wanted carved.

Helping mommy...she was in charge of scooping.

Our finished products... a little amateur but not a bad first effort.

Hot Chocolate...Yum.

Law School Halloween party

On October 29th the Law School had its annual Halloween Party. Mila has been excited about this since the last one. I have class at 10 so Mila watched class with me in a family support room. After class we went to the party and ate Pizza. Everyone in costume paraded in the front of the room...I had no intention of going up there, but once Mila saw a few of our friends up there she said "Why aren't we going up there?" I was surprised she actually wanted to go, so we went up front so she could show off her costume. After that we went trick or treating in the carrels. Mila got a ton of candy and a balloon dog. She had a blast!

My bumblebee!

Eating Pineapple Pizza...her favorite...aka eating the pineapple off the pizza.

Mila and Gideon... a bumblebee and a caterpillar.
